Our Curriculum

Our classrooms use the research based Creative Curriculum for Preschool, 5th Edition.  This curriculum promotes school readiness by combining an enriched classroom, teacher-directed learning activities, and child-led free play. Your child’s explorations and learning progress will be documented through weekly snapshots and a portfolio system. At periodic parent conferences, your child's strengths and developmental goals will be reviewed with you. 

 

There are 10 objectives for learning and development:

A Typical Day

A new morning begins with PGP opening at 7:00am. On time arrivals are between 7:00 - 9:00am. Each classroom has a set time for their family-style breakfast.

 

After breakfast, the preschool day begins with Morning Meeting.  This is an important routine for the children where greetings, songs, key concepts and the day’s activities are shared.

After Morning Meeting, each classroom has its own lesson plan for activities. Daily schedules include time in learning centers, teacher-led small group activities, outdoor play, meals, rest time, and scheduled enrichment classes.

Throughout the day in our classrooms you will see lots of books, block building, singing, dramatic play, creative art, messy experimenting, graphing, group discussions, inquiry-based problem solving, and caring teacher-child interactions.  School readiness, done right!

In the afternoon, PGP uses a system of staggered departure with three different ending times (3:50, 4:50, and 5:50pm). Children are picked up according to the time limit set by their attendance plan.

​

Building trusting, meaningful relationships is a foundational principle at PGP. Interaction with your family both at school and in the community is an effective way to enhance the connectedness between children, parents, and teachers. Annual school-family activities include picnics, parties and parent-teacher conferences.
